The Telangana government has decided to introduce aninsurance scheme for toddy tapperson the lines ofRythu Bheema insurance schemebeing implemented for farmers in the state.

Chief ministerK Chandrasekhar Raohas directed excise minister V Srinivas Goud and finance minister T Harish Rao to prepare guidelines for the insurance scheme.
Under the insurance scheme, if any Toddy tapper dies in an accident, the family will get Rs 5 lakh insurance like Rythu Bheema.

The chief minister said many toddy tappers are losing their lives accidentally falling from palm trees and the government wanted to come to the rescue of the families.
