- Rajasthan government to review Centre’s hefty penalties for traffic law violations
- Rajasthan’s transport minister announced that government in the state would review the proposed compounding fees. He claimed that the high penalties were impractical.
- Rajasthan is among those states which are yet to issue the notification for the Act. While the Act has been implemented partially here, the provision regarding the compounding fee is likely to be revised by the state transport department. Till the state does not issue the notification, the previous penalties on traffic violations will continue.
- The Centre’s new MVA has been implemented across the country and we are in full support of reducing accidents. However by increasing the fines, there is no guarantee that accidents will stop. In fact, the massive jump in the penalty amount will lead to corruption,” said Khachariyawas.
