Power bills set to go up in Telangana from April 2022

Power consumers in the state will have to shell out more towards electricity bills from April 2022 withSouthern Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TSSPDCL) and Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSNPDCL) seeking to increase 50 paise per unit for low tension (LT) domestic consumers and Re 1 per unit for all other categories, including LT commercial and high tension (LT) consumers.

As a result of the proposed hike, the power utilities are set to mop up an additional revenue of Rs 6,831 crore.

The discoms submitted power tariff proposals to theTelangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission. The TSERC will conduct a public hearing to seek opinion from people and organisations before finalising or approving the power tariff hike for the year 2022-23.

Both the discoms said that while the annual aggregate revenue requirement (ARR) for the coming financial year is Rs 53,054 crore, the present revenue earnings, including government support, is Rs 42,126 crore, thus leaving a Revenue Deficit of Rs 10,928 crore. The deficit will be bridged in the form of hike in power charges to the tune of Rs 6,831 crore and another Rs 4,097 crore from internal efficiency and governments support, they said.

Consumer Protection (Direct Selling) Rules

The Consumer protection (Direct Selling) Rules, 2021, have been published by the Central Government.

Highlights:

Direct selling entities and direct sellers are prohibited from Promoting a Pyramid Scheme or enlisting anyone in these schemes under the notified rules.

Participating in a -transfer scheme

State governments have been given the responsibility of monitoring compliance with these rules.

Direct Selling Entities are required to have at least one physical location as a registered office within India, according to the rules.

They should make a self-declaration that the Direct Selling Entity has followed the rules and is not involved in a pyramid scheme or money circulation scheme.

All products sold by a direct selling company must adhere to the declarations made under the Legal Metrology Act of 2009.

Flex-Fuel Vehicles and Flex-Fuel Strong Hybrid Guidelines

Guidelines for Flex-Fuel Vehicles and Flex-Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicles were released by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Highlights:

Automatic manufacturers in India have been instructed to begin producing Flex Fuel Vehicles (FFV) and Flex Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicles in accordance with guidelines (FFV-SHEVs).

This will help India replace its petroleum imports as a fuel source while also providing direct benefits to farmers.

FFV-SHEVs are equipped with powerful Hybrid Electric technology.

CEBRs Indian Economy Prediction

According to the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR), India will reclaim sixth place from France in 2022 and move up to third place in 2031.

Highlights:

India was predicted to become the third-largest economy in the world by 2030.

China will overtake the United States in 2030, according to the CEBR’s annual World Economic League Table.

According to the report, India’s ranking in the World Economic League Table will improve over the next 15 years (WELT).

Ziyuan-1 02E Launched by China

China launched a new Earth observation satellite named “Ziyuan-1 02E” into space.

The satellite was launched with the goal of discovering new <a href="https://exam.pscnotes.com/natural-Resources“>Natural Resources.A smaller satellite was also launched, which will be used to teach Geography at a Beijing school.

The Long March 4C rocket launched both satellites from the Taiyuan Launch Center in Sjanxi Province.

The Earth observation satellite Ziyuan-1 02E is part of a series of Ziyuan-1 satellites. Its most recent version, Ziyuan III 03., was released in July 2021.
